My creative journey began this year with a 150 page sketchbook, travel set of acrylic paints, markers, pencils and pens. I began the year in Canada, where I lived for a large part of my life, traveled to Portugal in January where I will spend two months and the rest of the year is as yet undecided. The sketchbook is an uninhibited way of sorting things out. It's freeing. I want to experiment this year, be open to change and let go. It is only the beginning of February when I write this, but I am excited when I flip through the sketchbook. The first set of small works are tentative, timid and awkwardly stiff. In more recent work I see the potential for larger works and will continue to fill the book until I I am ready to get back in the studio and paint.
